AMIA held a ceremony in memory of the deceased prosecutor Alberto Nisman on the tenth anniversary of his death. During the ceremony, similarities in terms of impunity between Nisman’s case and the attacks that occurred in the 1990s against the Jewish community and the Embassy of Israel were highlighted.
Among those present at the tribute were Nisman’s ex-wife and federal judge Sandra Arroyo Salgado, the city security minister Waldo Wolff, the president of AMIA Amos Linetzky, and journalist Joaquín Morales Solá, who delivered emotional speeches.
Sara Garfunkel, Nisman’s mother, also attended and lit a candle in memory of her son. During the event, the importance of remembering Nisman and the continued demand for justice in a case that has marked Argentine society was emphasized.
Judge Arroyo Salgado stressed the vileness of Nisman’s murder and the smear campaign he suffered after his death. Additionally, the legacy of fight and courage that Nisman left to his daughters, who have grown up upholding values of integrity, study, and respect, was highlighted.
Some attendees also took the opportunity to harshly criticize Cristina Kirchner’s management regarding the Nisman case, pointing out the interference of powers and questionable decisions in the political and judicial realm. Meanwhile, Néstor Kirchner’s commitment to the AMIA cause was recalled, emphasizing the differences in approach between the two political leaders.
